At LIGNA, HOMAG will be presenting a wide range of future-oriented edge banding machines, from entry-level models to those for large scale, industrial production.

The latest models are synonymous with digital production, automation and perfect edge quality. The range is supplemented by the innovative digital edge printing technology with the EDGETEQ P-200 and the new woodCommander 6 software generation, which simplifies the operation of the machines and increases production efficiency.

EDGETEQ S-200 model 1130 FC — simply better edges 

In the form of the EDGETEQ S-200, model 1130 HF edge banding machine, HOMAG can supply an entry-level solution for woodworking shops with comprehensive equipment, entry-level automation and a high level of flexibility in post-processing. It features a magazine for rolls of material and solid wood strips with an edge thickness of up to 6 mm. It also has a joint trimming unit, an edge banding unit for processing EVA/PUR, a snipping unit with automatic chamfer/straight adjustment and automatic adjustment of flush/overhang trimming. The automatic adjustment of the snipping motors to two positions, the trimming unit with pneumatic 3-point adjustment and the profile trimming unit with automatic adjustment between thin and thick edges are additional features of the machine. The machine has three units in its finishing area: a profile scraper with quick-change heads, a glue joint scraper with pneumatic adjustment and a buffing unit. 

The latest version of the machine features a variety of new functions to enhance production efficiency and flexibility. They include the top QA65 application unit and a magazine with height adjustment and servo edge feed, which ensure precise, reliable material feeding. An air cushion table also ensures ergonomic workpiece handling at the machine infeed, which improves the working conditions for the operator. The glue can be changed in less than 3 minutes, which significantly reduces setup times and increases production capacity. The edge feed with servo motors ensures constant and precise material feeding, while strip separation by vacuum suction units increases process reliability.  

EDGETEQ S-300, model 1440 E with woodCommander machine control unit and new magazine with height adjustment

The equipment of the EDGETEQ S-300, model 1440 E, offers competitive advantages for both woodworking shops and small and medium-sized businesses — especially in the case of frequently changing edge thicknesses.  

The two-profile technology—here with profiles R1 and R2—on the single-motor FF6210 profile trimming unit brings more flexibility to processing thanks to the fast, precise change by touch via the control system. Setup times and the machine length are shortened, thereby increasing cost efficiency. 

At LIGNA, the EDGETEQ S-300 features a new ergonomic air cushion table at the machine infeed and outfeed. The ergonomic machine infeed and outfeed ensure safe and convenient workpiece feed and removal. The variable feed speed is 8–14 m/min. The machine is equipped with a joint trimming unit, the QA65N universal application unit for the optional processing of EVA or PUR hot-melt glue and the edge magazine for strips and rolls of material. Post-processing takes place using the snipping unit, the multi-level trimming unit and the single-motor profile trimming unit. The multi-level profile scraper, glue scraper and buffing unit deliver a perfect finish. 

Now featuring the woodCommander6 machine control unit, which makes operating the machine even easier and more efficient. Another highlight is the magazine with height adjustment and servo edge feed, which further increases flexibility and precision for edge processing. 

In addition, edge feed with servo motors, strip separation by vacuum suction units to increase process reliability, magazine height adjustment for maximum flexibility and a nesting-capable glue joint scraper deliver additional competitive advantages. The EDGETEQ S-300 is a powerful, efficient solution for edge processing and sets new standards in terms of flexibility, precision and efficiency. 

EDGETEQ S-380 with the LOOPTEQ O-300 return conveyor — as a cell 

The combination with the return and the new automatic two-part edge magazine increases the productivity of the edge banding machine. The LOOPTEQ O-300 workpiece guide roller is ideal for a wide range of parts, from small, light workpieces to large, heavy ones. The units are controlled intuitively and the parameters are entered using powerTouch — the 24-inch multitouch monitor.

The ergonomic machine infeed ensures a safe and right-angled workpiece feed. For processing edge overhangs and copying corners, the MF60 multifunction trimming unit features a stepping motor for automatically adjusting to different edge thicknesses.  

For perfect glue joints, the EDGETEQ S-380 model 1672 E is equipped with the universal QA65N application unit and the universal melting unit (2.5–4 kg/h), which can be used for production with PUR or EVA. 

The change of glue type in the universal melting unit can be performed quickly and easily with two special interchangeable tanks for PUR cartridges or EVA granulate.  

The universal application unit is equipped with automatic glue quantity metering. Via the powerTouch user interface, the glue application quantities are set simply, precisely and quickly. This leads to optimum glue joint quality, higher availability and performance, as well as greater cost efficiency. 

Before gluing, the joint trimming unit creates the basis for a precise workpiece edge. Post-processing is carried out with the HL70 two-motor snipping unit, the MS40 multi-level trimming unit, the MF50 multifunction profile trimming unit, the MZ40 multi-level profile scraper unit and the finishing units of the glue joint scraper, cleaning agent sprayer and buffing unit.  
The multifunction profile trimming unit with two motors and the flexTrim multi-radius tool offers precise adjustment options for perfect corner processing. The structural shelf function also allows profile trimming of edges on raw panel corners. 

Acute-angled and obtuse-angled parts, workpieces with longitudinal grooves or with hinge holes, workpiece thicknesses from 8–60 mm, sensitive surfaces and much more can all be processed optimally using the EDGETEQ S-380 at a feed speed of 8–20 m/min. 

Now featuring the woodCommander 6 machine control unit, which makes operating the machine even easier and more efficient with greater network connection. Another highlight is the magazine with height adjustment and servo edge feed, which further increases flexibility and precision for edge processing. 

EDGETEQ S-356 with top roll pressure 

The EDGETEQ S-356 is the ideal solution for industrial use for edge processing. With a wide range of units, it enables the comprehensive processing of a wide range of workpieces. The joint trimming unit ensures precise, straight and tear-free workpiece edges as well as uniform adhesive joints, while the snipping unit and the 4-motor profile trimming unit guarantee fast, perfect edge processing at a speed of 25 m/min

The post-processing units, including the profile scraper, the joint scraper and the buffing station, complete the configuration and ensure a flawless final result. The 15-inch touchscreen interface enables fast and convenient operation, while the top roll pressure delivers the very highest quality by clamping the workpieces perfectly. 

The joint trimming unit provides the basis for precise workpiece edges and a uniform adhesive joint, while the quick-change application unit with glue supply from above ensures excellent availability and perfect adhesive quality. The snipping unit prepares the workpieces perfectly for subsequent trimming, and the fine-milling unit finishes the edge overhangs beautifully. 

The profile trimming unit can be used to process workpieces with a width of up to 60 mm and a feed speed of up to 25 m/min. This makes the EDGETEQ S-356 the perfect solution for efficient and precise edge processing in the industrial sector. 

Digital production, automation and perfect edge quality with the EDGETEQ S-500 series 

EDGETEQ S-500 — narrow parts machine with profile trimming unit

The EDGETEQ S-500 narrow parts machine enables users to precisely process very narrow workpieces as small as 40 mm. The machine also features an ergonomic air cushion table at the machine infeed and outfeed. The ergonomic machine infeed and outfeed ensure safe and convenient workpiece feed and removal. The two-profile technology—here with the profiles R1 and R2—on the PF21 fine-milling unit brings more flexibility to processing thanks to the fast, precise change by touch via the control system. Setup times and the machine length are shortened, thereby increasing cost efficiency. The FF32 4-motor profile trimming unit for corner rounding and the integrated Flextrim changing device is a real highlight. 

EDGETEQ S-500 — softforming machine

The EDGETEQ S-500 softforming edge banding machine features a motorized top roll pressure, two motors for synchronous and reverse rotation processing and the option of PUR and EVA gluing. A 2-slot magazine that can be automatically fitted with up to three edge weak-spot units, an SK25 Soft snipping unit with a cutting depth of up to 35 mm, a BF20 pre-trimming unit and an automatic change of 2 radii with the dual PF20 fine-milling unit also feature on the machine. The machine also has an FF32 profile trimmer, a PN20 profile scraper for softforming profiles, a finish with an FA21 glue joint scraper, buffing unit and stress whitened heating unit. 

The edge banding machine has unique selling points, including its inline weaknesses of softforming-capable thick edges, J-Pull with a thick edge of up to 0.8 mm, a roof profile with a thick edge of up to 1.5 mm and four-sided processing of roof profiles.

EDGETEQ S-500 with LOOPTEQ C-400 circulation system

The EDGETEQ S-500 profiLine edge banding machine with LOOPTEQ C-400 circulation system features a wide range of innovative functions and benefits that make it the ideal choice for modern wood processing. The technical highlights include the manually adjustable scanner system and the WZ08 workpiece feed system. The edge banding machine has an edge circulation system with two gantries based on the LOOPTEQ O-400 gantry as well as an expandable modular system that enables the integration of buffer storage and provides a stack position on the unit side. Flexible manual workpiece removal in the throughput direction or at the actual position of the machine operator significantly increases the efficiency of the machine. 

The adapted cell control system, which is integrated into the control unit, is a truly outstanding feature of the EDGETEQ S-500. The machine delivers a high melting capacity of the pre-melting container of 2.5 to 4 kg/h and the option of a single-type glue change between EVA and PUR. Special features include the automatic chamfer size adjustment on the PK25 snipping unit, the rolling side tracing of the FK30 and the variable diameter tracer roller on the FK30. In addition, the glue joint scraper with vertical fine adjustment of the tracing to the tool ensures precise, high-quality processing. 

Overall, the EDGETEQ S-500 profiLine edge banding machine with LOOPTEQ C-400 circulation system delivers a combination of advanced technology and user-friendly operation, which, with a performance range of 400 to 600 parts per shift, makes it the ideal solution for companies that want to optimize their production processes and increase the quality of their products.

The EDGETEQ S-500 profiLine with robot feed and LOOPTEQ O-400 gantry return is a pioneering innovation in the production industry. It sets new standards in terms of efficiency and precision with its ability for robotic feeding, guide feeding and detection as well as feeding complex stacks. The consistent use of the camera system on the robot in both edge banding machines and CNC machines ensures a high level of accuracy and reliability in production, while manual operation is also possible when the camera is not in use. In automatic mode, personnel can carry out other work to ensure optimal resource utilization

The EDTEQ S-500 has a pre-melting container with a melting capacity of 2.5-4 kg/h and a changing device that enables type-specific glue to be changed efficiently. In addition, the machine features an FK30 profile trimming unit with rolling side tracing and a variable diameter tracer roller that can be adjusted to different materials and requirements. A glue joint scraper with vertical fine adjustment of the tracing to the tool ensures precise, high-quality results, while the machine's patented tool technology allows acrylic processing in a single pass, which further increases productivity and efficiency.
